Here, a native community formed by around 350 families still living under the traditions of the XIV century, according to the Inca lifestyle principles.

Here, without minding the course of time, three main principles of the great empire of the Sun had survived: Ama suwa, Ama quella, Ama llulla : do not steal, do not be lazy and do not lie. Here , the influence of other cultures couldn`t have destroyed their Inca identity.

Enriched by a rough past, this modest dimension island, finds its roots in the very origins of this civilization. And even thought the Spanish slavery, it could not destroy the life values and customs of these people..

Due to those hard times, the people still being determinated and courageous to face all of the problems that life brings, keeping a good sense of humor, and if there is some important and common aspects about these people it might be, without a doubt, their joy for life, good humor and always to help the other.

...Leaving Puno early in the morning, visitors can take a boat, common transportation used in the island daily life, and connect the island with the city. rocked by the waves soft movement, it is possible to observe amazing color contrasts, the intense blue of the water and the ocher and green of a peaculiar plant carpet;  and getting to the island through impresive totora reedbeds after three hours sailing to this magnificent place.

Here , there is no planes, no cars, no bikes...it is by walking along little lined stone roads, where the visitor can get involved by the magical atmosphere that surrounds the island , . The most important characteristic of Taquile comes from the many old customs that survived the course of time.
