Castle of Titicaca

Story of the Castle

It all began during the last decade of the 20th century, with a man and a supposedly crazy dream...

In 1995, Belgian Christian Nonis was expending 15 years of his life traveling across South America...

He had fallen in love with this continent, with Peru, with its people and even more with Lake Titicaca...

The magical Lake had put a spell on him from the very first contact so many years ago...

During those years, he was charmed by fabulous department of Puno and discovered incredible hidden treasures on this looked down land by so many people...

It is so in 1995, during one of those tours, he discovered Charcas ... a set of several red sandstone crags protecting little pink sand beaches...it was love at first sight... it’s the place where he was going to build his mansion!

Through years and years, he was buying small pieces of this area to build the castle of his dreams.

In 2002 the construction began with the assistance of the villagers... Finally in 2003 the Castle became a reality...

At this place he started living nearby to the Lake that he was charmed with...

From the beginning, he was helped by Blas, a young energetic guy from the neighboring community, whom he considers to be his adopted child. Blas now takes charge managing this spectacular place, created between the sky and the lake.
